How To Build ‘Community’ as you Build Your Business

You want to make money right? But do you know how to make a difference? Well after reading this post you will. Many reps join an mlm or get started in network marketing because they see and want the money, they love the exotic cars the luxury travel etc. Of course I do as well. All of which are honorable goals. But what’s amazing to me is how so few see the connection between making that dollar and making a difference. You see the largest income earners and top success stories are created by those who fully grasp this equation and make it part of their mantra and team culture. You cannot have big success if it is only ever about you. According to my mentor Ray Higdon that vibration level is very small on the grand scale. If you’re going to make a bigger difference it requires you plug into a higher frequency. Leaders like Ray who do it differently but who also have the massive lifestyle all have one thing in common – they build communities

The word Community is a big word in the realm of mlm. It’s an inclusive word because it  involves more than just you and your needs. It is passionate and dynamic. So it is no surprise when I share below the 4 characteristics that all community mlm builders do an on regular basis.

1. They work hard. Strong work ethic is an absolute code of conduct for the community builder. When you see them on the stage of their company’s events, you know why they are there.They pack as much as they can into their day. Whether blogging, training, recording lessons and even traveling to build their teams. They put in the time and never negotiate the price. Community leaders do work smart but have unquestionable work ethic. Here’s a 7-minute video of Ray sharing with me why hard work is so undervalued.

2. They are coach-able. Community builders are always growing as a person. They seldom feel they have arrived and constantly improve themselves with books, audios, events balanced by a daily personal development program. They also have mentors and coaches they counsel with, mastermind with and learn from. At the core of their being they posses a humble and teachable spirit. They aren’t know-it-alls who block out side knowledge because of previous education or personal pride. Instead they are open to listen to wisdom wherever the universe is bring it from.

3. They inspire. Show me a community leader making a difference and I’ll show you an inspiring person. we’ve all felt these people’s energy. The key to their inspiration is they put people first. They make people feel important and lift them up in all they do. At least that’s the aim. Money and things are always last and that’s why they vibrate at the highest levels. That vibration that makes them resonate more with such a wide range of ethnicities, cultures and even other mlm leaders. They don’t have to recruit, they inspire and people simply join them. Once they do an interesting thing occurs, many of those reps who never thought they would make it past 90 days, make what I cal the big commitment and remain with that leader long-term.

4. They serve.  I had the distinct honor of sharing this insight on the final segment of a very special four- part webinar hosted by my amazing mentor Ray Higdon. It inspired me to write about this topic today. Among the multiple tips I gleaned from Ray in this webinar leadership course, the big takeaway for me was how we all can build community better to have the longevity we all want as a leaders. He even coined a new phrase which I believe will re-shape what how many will want to be viewed. Intimate Servant Leaders or ISL ISL’s all possess the traits I have just mentioned. They also take the time to spend with people (new reps) even when it is costly and sometimes inconvenient. In building my mlm community I have 4 rules I live by as an emerging ISL. a) People first, things second. b) I never cancel a meeting. c) This person could be the next Ray Higdon. b) When they enroll, they don’t just start a business, they join a family.

So the question is are you one today? Would you like to known as one in your company? If you’ve ever considered why preople remember JFK, MLK, Mother Theresa or Ghandi..It is becasue they served the masses, worked hard, remained teachable, inspired millions and served in a clear community way. That is how I feel about my mentor Ray Higdon and I include him today in that list of our world’s greatest ISL’s His recent series has impacted me in a very deep and profound way and you deserve to know and learn from him now and in 2012.

Building a community is not an option if you see what you do as huge as Ray does. When you start applying this you will no longer just have bunch of reps enrolled, but develop leaders who adopt a mission and a purpose. Then watch a movement that changes lives take shape.

Debunking The 5 Most Commonly Used Excuses in Network Marketing

Have you ever heard these 5 common excuses as you’ve built your network marketing opportunity? If not yet, you will. You see if you’ve been building your primary company for any length of time you will undoubtedly hear these common excuses. In the following paragraphs we will explore, expose and debunk these falsehoods and reveal the truth, so that you will never fear or run from these overrated reasons people give themselves to fail.

So here they are in no particular order.

1. Don’t have the Money

2. “I Don’t have the Time.”

3. “I Have To Think About It”

4. “I Want To Do My Research”

5. “Need To Check With a Third Party”

Question. Are these really valid statements or just lame excuses full of hot air? Are these sentence bonified or do people throw them around so much that they sentence themselves to poor results and unfulfilled goals? Are they really logical or simply  good sounding rationale that serves as an escape for a prospect NOT to execute a proper decision?  Well it’s time to crack the excuse code and help people and ourselves to STOP MAKING EXCUSES!

As we examine each of these carefully I’ll show how these 5 statements (that many reps continually run from in terror) are really powerless and  when thoroughly analyzed can be used to bring a prospect back around to the point of decisiveness and intelligent choice. Let’s begin with the first one.

When people say they ‘don’t have the money’, this may be a fact but the truth is that they can always find the money. Truth can always change facts. Money comes to people and flows from people. Firstly, people find money for what they see value in and secondly this (almost always) overrides the truth of them not having the actual physical money at the time they said it. Statistically money is the least valid reason that keeps people locked away from opportunity. It’s a technicality. Why? Because the average prospect makes decisions based on circumstances and not on facts. The fact is they may not possess the money BUT the truth that they can find the money if they want to find it. Those who use the money excuse should focus on the truth why they want the money and not on the fact of not having it.

‘Don’t have the time’ is the second excuse you hear quite a lot. The reality is we all don’t have time. We make time. For what we want, for the people we care about and for what is important to our schedules. Ever human on the planet has only 24 hours in a day, it depends on how they utilize it. The difference between a ditch digger and a doctor is how they think and how they spend their time. So when the time excuse is hurled at you, simply realize it is just not a valid one. What they are really saying is this: I am unaccountable with my calendar and terrible with scheduling my life in all areas and not just the opportunity you’re showing me.

When someone says…‘I need to think about it.’ what are they meaning. Are they really seeking more time to logically balance the facts or is it a intelligent attempt to throw you off, intelligently? Here is a easy way to truly find out what it is they want to think about or if they’re bluffing. Simply re-state back all the iron clad facts, points and credibility of your opportunity you shared but in this way: “Are you wanting to think about the fact that we are the #1 company in our arena?” “Are you needing more time to think about the fact that we have grown and doubled our numbers faster than any other company in less time?” “Is it the statistic of us offering a buy-back guarantee on our product that no one else gives, what you need more time to think about?” You see by stating the verifiable facts as the central point of what they said they’re needing /seeking research on that actually strips away the ambiguity of the term “research.” This process boils the real reason down to one clear point. Most will deny the facts you’ve stated as not what they are needing research on and reveals the real issue. And once they really tell you the issue, then you can deal with it. Do this and the “need more time to think about it” excuse will evaporate right before the prospects eyes.

‘Doing my research’ is my favorite excuse. I always find it humorous to think that after a proper presentation fortified with accurate information you share with a prospect that they would turn around and say they need to seek further research. I always think to myself. Research of what and from whom? I just showed you the research. The fact that the research  they are going to seek is going to come from a non-credible person or worst, a random source than those who just explained the opportunity, is totally absurd. The reality is this, there is no research they can do because there is no one better qualified to seek research about your opportunity than you and your upline. If you don’t believe this very point, then you’re not qualified to share your business and you must get trained to this at once! You MUST be the last line of bullet-proof information and the final authority on your business opportunity subject. Do your research & your prospect won’t have to do any of their own!

Finally there is the notion of ‘checking with a third party.’ Many won’t admit that this is what they plan on doing. But a great way to be non-defensive and remain confident in this follow-up phase is to ask them “If you don’t mind me asking, who is it that you want a third part opinion from?” If they actually tell you then you should proceed to ask one key question. “are they an expert in our business arena?” “Have they created quantifiable success in our business in the past?” If either of these answers are in the negative, you have intelligently and logically debunked the veracity of that person. That person they want to ask may in fact be credible person in a specific field but if they have no background, experience, results or success in your opportunity, they are 100% unqualified to speak to your prospect as a credible 3rd party. Thus you have debunked the 5th excuse.

These are 5 acid neutralizing points that can make you 100% recruiting ready and impenetrable. Use them and become bullet -proof against any of these 5 commonly used and over-used excuses that prospects love to launch, hurl and spew at us. Understand them inside out and you’ll start overcoming objections and start enrolling more reps TODAY!

5 Unmistakable Ways to Know if You’re an MLM Guru…

Well today I’m going to expose 5 myths that can make the difference for you. You see the truth of the matter is you don’t have to be or become a guru to start making money and build a massive team. Actually if you grasp these truths in the following lines, you will never want to be a guru at all.  So how do you know if you’re doing things like guru and how to do the opposite…keep on reading.

You know you’re an mlm guru when…

1.) You never pick up the phone to speak to any one in your front line or down line team because that is for amateurs. Leaders who have contributed to the idea that to be a big player in mlm is by not taking calls or answering there phone are dead wrong. Not only will they seriously cripple their long-tern checks but more importantly training there teams for stunted growth because no one will ever pick up the phones to connect with other prospects.

2) You want to let a system replace your human touch and automate “everything”. No system as good as it is will ever do everything. The key to building a long-term thriving organization is connecting with people and your team. In the network marketing industry there are many systems that can solve problems but the one thing it cannot do is the build relationships. It is these key relationship that produce great leaders and ultimately monetary success into the future. The legendary John Maxwell has quoted “people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

3) You view your group only as another big transaction when a new affiliate “flavor of the month program” comes out. This one really irritates me…When a so called guru only sees their team, group or list as a dollar signs ($) in my opinion they are committing a relational crime of trust. People who take advantage of their people by using their influence base and platform just to keep selling the latest and greatest or every program under the sun, confuses and hinders team growth. While tools and affiliate of value are worthy to be promoted, the  real issue is the motive of that guru so-called leader. Good people who feel taken advantage time and time again will eventually quit and look for some one who won’t manipulate them but actually provide, protect and produce with and for them. This is true leadership!!

4) You have amazing skills to do what you do BUT no one else on your team can duplicate you. I’ve found that the greatest leaders in this industry in fact do have have amazing skills and abilities. They are exceptional presenters, great connectors and constant closers. However the liability I have also witnessed is these very skills not being transferred and passed on to others. The danger in being the “guy” or “gal” that is the only one, means that you are an anomaly or as we are discussing the un-relatable “guru” In order to have true duplication which leads to massive residuals many years into the future  is by not being the only person who can do it. That’s where walkaway income becomes  a reality. So teaching others to do is the 1st part of the secret and then teaching others to teach is the 2nd part…that’s a smart network marketing leader!

5) You have a network marketing job because you’re always the super hero and have to keep performing to sustain your income. Having a job is one thing but many gurus simply have the same by not  duplicating their skill to their team. A network marketing job isn’t desirable either.  Who wants that? By being the sole guy or gal that does it all, the genius, the magic, the there is no duplication and as a result to freedom. However by training others to do what you do and better is how you have the very thing network marketing is all about. Freedom. “True Leadership is defined as making yourself increasingly unnecessary.”

I’m reading a great book right now by one of myall time favorite authors. John C Maxwell. It’s on why so many people never ever fully achieve. Invest in your self before 2010 end and pick up a personal copy.

The one and only thing that make any business work is one thing – leadership. Not follower-ship but leadership. Stop trying to blend into the status quot & stand out from among the crowd…then and only them will you become the man/woman, the brand and success you desire to be.

So many well meaning reps and aspiring leaders confuse, political correctness, niceness, kindness  and even talent for leadership. Seeking comfort and the approval of everyone is a absolute sentence to a lifetime bondage. Not physical but the emotional kind. I call it “people bondage.”

While it’s essential to be cordial with those around us and in our business, you’ll never achieve that high level of success without commanding the deep respect that becoming a leader brings.  You’ll not even achieve if you say all the the right things. Simply put, you must be right. Until you are respected as a leader you won’t ever experience all the perks, benefits, financial rewards and accolades of the title.

Frankly being a leader is the reward. When you can be & do in harmony, then the power flows.

This can only come about by good decisions. And good decisions hurt and are exceeding uncomfortable. Leading is being and doing. Doing the things that are difficult, uncomfortable, unpopular and that make people flat out mad. Who cares if it is the right thing you’re doing. The fruit of your actions will be silence the “Nay’ Sayers utterly.

What is a life without these ingredients anyways??

So tonight or today as we stare another fresh holiday year in the face. TRULY Make a decision BEFORE 2011 that you will step up and stand out. You will STOP comparing yourself to someone else’s average and compete with the only one that really matters any way..that is YOU. Deciding To Be a Leader Vs Remaining A Leader

Are you ready for this one?

Deciding to be a leader is easy but remaining  a leader through thick & thin is extremely hard. This message may rattle a few but it has to be addressed for people to have breakthrough. I perceive huge epidemic happening in our society and it involves people everyday in every strata of life.  Just what is it? The lack of commitment people make to each other is so prevalent hat many of us have become numb to it. People make promises to people and have no plan to even follow through. The bottom line: It’s wrong and it’s time for you if you feel the same  to declare your disdain of this toxic relational phenomena.

The reason so many well meaning business professionals,  network marketing reps and generally aspiring leaders falter is due solely to lack of commitment. No staying power and no long term vision. Whether it’s promising to lose weight, get healthier, start a school course or even improve their relationship etc the challenge is not the goal but the task itself but the integrity behind it all.

So let us look at 5 specific things that can help bring any shaky leader back to true north. What can you do today to stay the leader you’ve decided to be and have committed to your team to remain.

1.Always Remember Your Why? It goes without saying you need to to have a real why (passion) in life and in our industry. Why do you need a why? Simply put…because you’re human and the crappy days will come. There will be days when even you will find it hard to remember why you’re in the game. Like a determined athlete striving for the championship circle or Olympic platform, You may have to recall why you are doing the uncomfortable and many times inconvenient. But if you have a clearly defined why, one that is deep down in your soul, one that even makes you shed tears, then no one included your own self will allow you to falter your commitment to the goal or as a leader.

2. Do NOT Confuse Activity with Accomplishment A lot of well meaning leader/reps who want to be big leaders in their arena unfortunately get side-tracked or distracted by their own doing. How so? They start out focused but get off track by majoring on minors and on the things that keep them from getting closer to their objectives. In the online marketing world for instance, some get so deeply busy learning SEO, traffic generation, lead generation, website optimization, yapping in chat rooms etc etc etc and even  this last one (wait for it) even blogging. Don’t get me wrong all of these things I have listed are in fact effective but they should serve you and not be counter productive. They should put you in place to actually accomplishment. Nothing replaces 1 )recruiting and 2) retailing to create profit. But some never figure this out. Imagine for a second a hamster on a wheel. As fast as it goes and goes and goes…he it never gets anywhere. What’s the moral? Not all motion is progress. Make sure you don’t confuse activity with accomplishment.

3. Read PMA Books Regularly. Reading books is by far the fastest way for any rep to sharpen their network marketing and leadership skills. Authors like Zig Ziglar,John Maxwell, Darren Hardy and Noah St Johns are a few that will enhance your mental growth. A daily reading plan is the fastest way for anyone to exponentially grow past the point where they are. By reading you gain access to time proven formulas from leaders both present and past.Simply put, there is a huge vault full of immense value from those that have gone before us many years ago. What you will learn quickly is the principles are still relevant in today’s business arena. By reading it unlocks that vault for us anytime we choose any time we want. You MUST read to grow yourself. If you cannot read, that is a completely different article topic.

4. Surround Yourself with Positive People If you have the chance, daily, weekly or monthly, at all cost ensure you surround yourself with people who are not only positive but those who can contribute to your overall success and well being. Some one once said “if you can’t CHANGE the people around you, then change the PEOPLE around you. Think of your ears as a receptacle or container. Do you want good stuff in or bad stuff there? You have heard the phrase I’m sure “garbage in, garbage out.”  Positive people not only will uplift you but if they are in your primary company, they should be leading the way for you to achieve much more results. If they are not, then it just may be time re-evaluate just how much time and who you are associating with.

5. Hold Yourself Accountable This final point is one that only you can do. Hold yourself accountable. Accountable to what? To your own word.  Your word as leader is the only thing you rally have and that word shapes your reputation and credibility. Maybe yours isn’t important to you but if you will be that leader you committed to be, it must become essential. Only you or let me say it this way… the person looking back in the mirror is the man or woman that will determine your ultimate success.

There is a expression I learned several years ago and it say this. The 11th Commandment is “thou shalt NOT kid thy self. To remain a leader mean not kidding yourself.

So can you remain a leader even in tough times or when peer pressure looms? YES!  Just commit to being honest and true to yourself. Get a coach or mentor. Keep a log of your progress.  Set achievable goals.  Adjust when necessary and hold yourself to doing whatever you can to hit them in a timely manner. Discipline yourself to your daily routine because at the end of the day that is the only thing you can control, your schedule. Disciplined actions will elevate you more than gifted-ness or talent and that is what it takes to be and stay a committed leader.

As you implement these five things everything will change and the leader in you will emerge. Just try it!

8 Reasons You Should Promote a Duplicable System In Your Network Marketing Business

The definition of true leadership was once defined this way… “Becoming increasingly unnecessary.” If that seems like a strange and foreign concept, then you’re ‘in for a long haul in your network marketing career. But if you can read the following few lines in this post I guarantee you by the time you’re done you will want to be just that and you’ll be happy you are unnecessary because of the great success you will realize from duplication.

Most reps would agree that duplication is a good thing. It is toted and mentioned in most presentations and compensation plans. But along the way they get sidetracked or lose focus. Rather than stay at the task of hand which is recruiting talent and training leaders, they get off track majoring on the minors on things that a) do not make money & b) things that do not duplicate positively. Listen everything in this industry duplicates; that is both good news and bad news as well.

So lets look at 8 vital reasons why you should be promoting a duplicable system in YOUR network marketing business  TODAY and make yourself increasingly unnecessary for long term healthy success?

1. You DON’T want a network marketing 40 yr job. I have seen so many good reps never become great leaders because they failed teach other how to teach others, so after many years  not only are there no other leaders but they are still at the grind of the business routine. Leaders who were good but never develop others  are good example of how not to network marketing right. The baton never got passed to any others and the result of this is a tired rep that only had a network marketing job.

2. You want true walk -residual income years into the future. Let’s face it, the reason we all signed up in network marketing is to build a huge check, a residual income. One that many years from now will still come in whether we are actively working the business or not. If you can walk away from it years from now and income still be there getting bigger and better, then you’ve done it right and mastered duplication.

3. To protect yourself from becoming idolized. Alot of well meaning leaders along the way turn into tyrants.  These are men and women who were the only ones making money so long that they start becoming a “legend in their own minds” and others’ eyes.  Due to this, some see their success becomes something of a anomaly and start to pseudo-worship them.  Some leaders get so off track from staying humble and start reveling in their self made glory. But one real way to avoid this temptation is to have other leaders present around you to keep you humble and your ego healthy.

4. To Work Smart and Not Hard. There’s no extra prize for making a 12-18 month program an life long mission. Why struggle longer than needed? Someone once said,“Build it fast and build it once.” By doing that you duplicate leadership in a much more efficient manner. You get to your goal alot quicker too. Part of working smart is doing the hard things immediately so you can get to enjoy the reward longer. You’ll either play now and pay later or pay now & play for the rest of your life.

5. For credibility of the industry to be solid and respected. So many critics of mlm or network marketing just don’t see enough people becoming successful. They do not see enough other leaders also making a full-time income and living a lifestyle of their dreams like the top guy. But by having more leaders though duplication, it gives our industry the respect and credibility it truly deserves . Even though the 114B per year network marketing industry with 63M involved is irrefutable proof, your success just has more weight with circle of influence.

6. So you can teach from a perspective of reality & not theory. The best teachers in our network marketing arena are always those who have done it first, before they teach it. When they develop solid leaders, as hey say  ‘the proof is in the pudding‘ It’s reality not philosophy. Not only will you believe them when it comes time for them to train you, but you’ll believe that you can be a leader just like them.  People want to know that those leading them are in fact the real deal.

7. Because everyone can do it if you keep if simple

When things are complex or complicated, you’ll always lose half the room. By following a duplicable method for buildings teams that can be learned by Ceo and janitor, franchise owner and franchise customer, single mom or college grad, you instantly raise the odds of success in your favor. Keeping it simple, keeps it duplicating and this is where long-term growth comes from.

Finally                                                                                                                                           #8. You’ll only ever impact a limited number of people in your life. A very wealthy network leader once told me that he would at best only ever be able to impact 400 people in his life, so who will touch the other 6,999,600 then? The answer lies in the: when we duplicate ourselves  following a duplicable model in our business, we do something remarkable. We allow more people to impact the lives of more people. A task or mission that one person simply cannot do alone.

So while we are building an income for a new car or vacation or perhaps to event to retire a loved one, true duplication serves a far greater purpose that we can ever fathom…and that my friend is the best part of all.

Why J. Paul Getty Was So Right!!

J. Paul Getty who made his billions in oil during the great depression once said…“I’d rather have 1 percent of 100 people’s efforts than 100 percent of my own.”

How tremendously profound & applicable his statement still almost eighty years later.

If there’s one key element we can all agree that will make the difference in the long-term profit, stability and success of your online or offline business, it’s one word — duplication. You see in network marketing, you can do it right and you can do it wrong.

Most get busy but never get productive.

Why?
Because if they want it done right they do it themselves. This axiom may be in fact be true in traditional business or self-employment but in mlm or network marketing, that is a formula for failure.

If you are to become successful and free in network marketing you must DUPLICATE.

Many people work hard but not smart. While hard work is admirable, smart work is more effective. Duplication allows you to get greater results with less effort while creating exponential growth for an entire organization instead of just a select few.

There are many people in the network marketing industry that are good, however he challenge is they never find or develop others be good, too! lol They are the king pin (as they say) doing all the meetings and thus all the work. That sounds funny I’m sure, but the reality is this.. If you never develop or train others to get to where you are at OR have others be able to do what you do and get the results you get, all you’ll have is a network marketing job. And Who wants that?

Listen by doing all the work constantly by yourself, you will only end up frustrated, and by yourself. Learn to start training other leaders and DUPLICATE your efforts. This will EXPLODE your results.  After all two things we all want to produce at the end of the day  is …TIME & MONEY which is FREEDOM.

So let me ask you, “Are you duplicating yourself? Are you training others to be as good or if not better than you? Are you seeking those leaders who want a large thriving and international business? Are you seeing yourself with 50 leaders like you backed up by 50 like you?
